Dan Ulfig
President/CEO
1985-Present
With his vision for the future, Dan made it his task to take the company from a labor only shop to a one-stop commercial flooring powerhouse. From the beginnings with Gene and El; to hiring Master Craft’s first “salesman”; to moving the headquarters into a new top-notch facility in 2013, Dan has seen it all.
Dan is an avid traveler who enjoys tending to his newest endeavor – his farm and wildlife refuge.
Garrett ulfig
Southwest Director
Garrett is part of the third-generation in the family business. From playing on carpet rolls in the warehouse as a toddler to warehouse work as a teenager and project management in his twenties, Garrett has work in almost every aspect of the business. In January 2010, he took on the task of expanding Master Craft Floors into the Southwest region. With his vision for the future, Garrett has plans to continue to grow the company based on the core values his father and grandparents instilled in him from the start.
In his free time, Garrett actively enjoys working out, golfing, and spending time with his wife and two kids.
James Judd
Midwest Director
James joined Master Craft Floors in 1994. As a highly-experienced flooring expert, he has used his hands-on approach to develop strategic flooring decisions. James’ business philosophy is to engage the most professionally trained flooring installation team and provide the best flooring value for the customer. He is influential in a variety of industry organizations including Starnet Worldwide, Flooring Contractors Association (FCICA), American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), International Standards and Training Alliance (INSTALL). James’ numerous installation certifications include ICRA.
James now resides in Saline, MI with his wife and five children. He enjoys riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, working out and spending time at Van Etten Lake.
Robert Stauffer
Midwest Operations
In 1995, Robert began his career in the flooring industry as a Union Apprentice. Since then he has worn many hats including Union Floor Installer, Journeyman and Dispatcher. Robert also holds certifications as an FCICA Installation Manager, as well as, an INSTALL Certified Installer.
His strong leadership skills and commitment to providing exceptional work has made him a driving force towards growing Master Craft Floors in years to come.
Robert enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. His hobbies include fishing and traveling with his family.
Mike Sopko
Human Resources
Mike leverages over 20 years of industry experience and education (MBA, PHR, SHRM-CP) to help build an All-Star Team at Master Craft Floors. Outside of work, he stays sharp on current industry trends in his role as an Adjunct Professor at Ferris State University.
Mike spends his free time on the softball field and basketball court with his two daughters.
Michelle Merritt
Accounting
Along with her BBA and MSA degrees in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University, Michelle has a work background at a regional CPA firm. Michelle now uses those experiences to focus on everything accounts payable, including streamlining and improving accounting processes.
Outside of the office, Michelle enjoys traveling and yoga.

Beyond our own environmental stewardship, we assist our clients by specifying and obtaining sustainable flooring products that abide by the US Green Building Council’s LEED standards and guidelines. Anything that can be done to lessen our burden on the planet is taken into consideration.
